    读书——回家(下)

    前段看马林在日志中记录了他导师的一段话:“需要厚厚的底子,加上现代主义的积淀,看卡夫卡,看卡尔维诺,看乔伊斯,看普鲁斯特,看福克纳,才能直接对当代中国文学和文化发言。”当时很想留言谈谈自己对此的认识,后来索性决定以“回家”为题写篇文章。

    相信大多数人读这段话,都会把目光自然聚焦在现代主义和随后几个如雷贯耳的作家大名上,忽略了它的前提——“需要厚厚的底子”,不会去琢磨这“底子”到底是什么。这似乎也是现在学院内的风尚,大家都爱把现代主义后现代主义挂在嘴边。记得我刚上大一受此影响写了篇卡尔维诺《寒冬夜行人》的读后感,竟然在里面不知所谓地大谈起德里达和罗兰巴特。四年本科下来我买了也读了不少现代或后现代的理论著作,但回头看,除了熟知一些理论术语外,真正留给自己的东西很少。

    我完全没有就此否定现代和后现代主义的意思,这些著作充满了震撼力,深刻揭示了现代人们的生存境遇,读来很容易产生共鸣。但是,我们是已经背井离乡,看不见喜剧结局的孩子,这些时下流行的文学与理论都属于撞向世贸大楼的飞机和废墟上的幽灵,谁也不能指望它们来指引家园的方向。

    路在何方?不是我所能回答的。但我们确曾有过个家,是可以回去看看的。当我最近开始拾起17世纪的经典著作,不论笛卡尔还是帕斯卡尔,都让我深深震撼,完全刷新了自己先前对他们的浅薄认识。那里是一片旧大陆,也是一个完全不同的世界,我们需要常回家看看。收拾好旧家底,寻找属于我们的幸福结局。
